Oh and I bet the tires are overloaded and too much hitch weight on the back of the Vespa. They need a 3/4 ton pickup for sure.

I am extremely lucky, about the time I got old my grandkids got bigger. “Grandpa’s carrying fishing poles” is the rule now.

About the time I get ¾ of the way down the portage trail, they are on their way back for a second load.

These kids have been canoe camping since before they were a year old and all that lugging of kid’s stuff is paying off all these years later.

I suppose I am more of a purist at heart. I like backpacking. One takes with one whatever is needed for the entire trip.

I have two quotes for you.

1. Take nothing but photographs, and leave nothing but fingerprints. Whatever you pack in, you pack out.

2. Good experiences come from good judgement. Good judgement comes from bad experience.

Now in my old age and because DW thinks roughing it is checking into the Waldorf-Astoria, we now have a class C.

I have never compared TT travel to camping. It is like comparing apples to watermelons.

Camping is foregoing as many creature comforts as necessary to meet the objective. Wilderness canoeing and backpacking are perhaps the most barebones examples.

Modern tenting, pop-ups and various car camping methods that require set up and tear down, packing and unpacking of the perceived necessities are more typical of examples of modern camping. As the video shows, people have been chasing this dream for years.

TT, 5ers, Class A, B or C coaches are a completely different realm. They open the door to travel and mobility without foregoing all of the conveniences of home or having to unpack, setup and teardown. The price of course it more cost, and less accessibility.

I have a canoe, pop-up and now a TT, it is not a matter of which is better; it is a choice of which best fits the needs at hand.

I tented for years then bought and rebuilt the interior of a '66 Norris, 11ft TT. Moved up to my Twister, which I can stand up in, double bed, dinette, AC, stove with oven, storage. To me it is like an apartment on wheels and it's all I need. My family rented campers like this when I was a kid. It is still camping and I seek the minimalist campgrounds to go with it. Retiring in June and I can't wait for some extended trips.

I started out backpacking. Been through tenting, pick-up shell, cab over and "C" class. Tow trailers; including pop-up, 12,14 and 17 foot. 2 fifth wheels and now in a 25 foot TT. No "A", yet!

I embrace comfort, convinces and technology. But lately l have enjoyed sleeping in a hammock. :B

I hope the happy couple took their rig to the CAT scales for a proper weigh-in on that scooter, check all the axles, etc.
