Ours came with a "built in" water filter, but it was under the kitchen sink and only filtered the kitchen sink water. It was in the way of storage and was just more of a pain than anything, so I took it out. It didn't help that it was missing its' gasket, which we found out on our first trip - and of course the gasket was a special order size.
The basic Camco RV inline water filters from Walmart work as a basic filter attached at the campground water faucet - and I just buy a new one every spring.
If we had a seasonal site, I would figure out a more permanent and better filter setup.
