Attention all Wolf Creek 850 Owners

Hi all

I own (owned) a 2012 wolf creek 850 and the passenger side front anchor bolt was spliced in with a small sheet of plywood. This piece of plywood failed, ripped out and my Wolf Creek rolled out of my truck. Northwood manufacturing says this is standard practice and all of their units are made this way. I am trying to get an idea if the achor bolts are in fact spliced in. Can all you wolf creek owners check the underside of the skirt where your anchor bolts are and see if they are spliced in? It woulx be either in the front or the rear. I really like the Wolf Creek 850, and I am looking at buying another one but want to make sure my case was a 1 in a million accident. Thanks in advance.

Here is the spliced in plywood

  • To the OP's situation I am in shock... That is unbelievable.... I would demand Wolf Creek fix this or take the camper back.... How the heck can someone design an anchor like that?

  • What a cheap crummy way to construct a tie-down corner on a TC! That is NOT tied in at all. Simple screws into wood and they expect it to hold with the flexing and bouncing a TC experiences? Are they nuts? Thru bolting with an adequate bridged metal plate well secured on both sides of the squeezed sandwich and the use of plenty of good glue/adhesive is required if they want it to last more than a few years. Wood joints not sandwitched weaken over time with humidity/temperature variations any way so why would they use this very poor construction method for the mounting retention task at hand???

Whats the rest of the story? How did the TC fall out of the truck? You still would of had 3 tie downs holding.

+1. Were you taking evasive action? Hit by a truck? Bumpy section at high speed? Sorry to see what happened and not saying you could have prevented what happened, but I'd be surprised if you were just driving down the road and it just gave up and the camper fell out. More detail would be helpful to others so that they might try to avoid the conditions you encountered. Hope things work out for you and do admit, it looks to be a minimal amount of attachment of such an important piece. Wondering if all manufactures do something similar.
