AUX GRAVITY FEED DIESEL TANK 2017 RAM 3500

Just bought a new ram 3500 and am curious if a gravity feed fuel tank can be installed. I plan to move the tank from my 05 ram to the new truck. Will appreciate any feedback.
  • I have an RDS 45 gallon that I bought for my '06 3500. When we upgraded to the 2015 RAM I took it out of the '06 and put it in the new truck right after we got it. It's been in there for over two years now and serving us well! I love it.

Works in a 15. And no change from 15 to 17. Just curious why some ask a forum and not RDS themselves??

I ask questions to this forum because it's a matter of convince, I don't have to look up phone numbers or give my information to anyone else. I can type up my questions and come back later when I have time and sort though the replies and try and weed out the ones talking out their @$$ and the ones who know. I know someone here probably has real world experience and I like that.

To the OP I have one on my 2016 and love it and have no issues. As far as I can tell the 2017 isn't any different in those areas that matter. When everyone was was out hoarding gas after the hurricane I had enough to last a couple weeks until after the madness ended, plus it saved me money because the price went up a minimum of about 20 cents a gallon from the time I bought diesel and the hurricane hit south of me. Really love having an extra 91 gallons if I want it.

I will be welding up my own aluminum tank, not using rds.

RDS makes the adapter kit. Tank maker is irrelevant.
  • I have an aux tank in my GMC At first it was gravity fed but was real slow. Put an aux. pump on it and now it works great. The tank is designed to fit in a short wheel base truck with a fifth wheel hitch

  • The gravity feed worked great on my 05. RDS makes the kit for the 2017. I dont want to order the kit until I know for sure it will work

I'm interested in doing the same thing on my 2011. I'm in for answers. I don't see why not, but these new trucks are picky sometimes.

I can't comment on the 17, but I know it will work on your 11. I've had an RDS on mine basically since I bought the truck new in 2011.
