- FLY_4_FUNExplorerIve never actually measured but we use our 50 gallon fw tank in about 2.5 days of normal camping with 2-3 people. For sure my wife uses more water having long hair to wash. I bring a few 6 gal containers for longer trips or our 33 gal tidy tank when away from water spigots. We not ultra conservative on our usage but don't waste it either.
Daryll - avoidcrowdsExplorerI can (Navy) shower with less than a gallon. Wife uses about 2 gallons (longer hair). We can camp a week with 46 gallons, showers every-other day (I take an extra, if I get sweaty during an off-day).
We use the warm-up water to flush the toilet, or pour into water bottles. None wasted. Navy showers are key to minimizing consumption. Feeling clean is wonderful, and a long, hot shower loses its refreshing feel very quickly, making it easy to skip, in my opinion. Hot Navy shower is quite fine, to me. - mobeewanExplorerI have a 34 gallon FW tank. Navy showers every other day, using the toilet and using bottled water for cooking and coffee i can go 8 days on about 30 gallons of water. This is taking into account the water heater and system are already filled before the tank is topped off and I am traveling alone. So I guess about 6-1/2 to 7 gallons per shower.
When tent camping and using a 5 gallon solar shower bag I can get by with about 2-1/2 gallons per shower. - rbpruExplorer III prefer to use the CG shower but coming from a wilderness tenting background, a shower is a just nice convenience.
I have used those hanging shower bags with a couple of gallons of sun warmed water but I much prefer the convenience of a campground shower. - bka0721Explorer II2.5 gallons.
Put a bucket under your output for the gray water and open the valve . Have everyone take a shower and then review how much is in the 5 gal bucket and compare with the other users.
Of course start with an empty gray water tank for this test comparison.
The results is very humbling for many members in a family.
b - ScottGNomadIf we're conserving, it's about 2 gallons each. We both shower on one tank of hot water.

2 gallons last gallon being hot
I save the dilly-dallying in shower for home - punomaticExplorerWhen I owned a sailboat, I used to heat up 1/2 gal of water and pour it in a garden pump sprayer that I equipped with shower head. I could take a very pleasant Navy shower with that rig. Now I probably use about 2 gallons in the TT.
- SteveAEExplorerAbout 0.75 to 1 gallon/shower (advantage of not having much hair).
We have a hot water recirculating system so only a cup or two of water goes into the bucket (we save, shower water for the toilet) before it is hot. - SoundGuyExplorerBack when we owned our Santa Fe popup I installed my own shower but because the FW tank was just 20 gals we really had to minimize our water use and as I recall the four us managed to get through each shower using about 3 gals of water. That was then, this is now, and I don't care how much water we use for each shower as there's now only the two of us so our consumption is probably twice that now. Quite frankly, having a hot shower at the end of the day is one of the best things we enjoy about camping in our travel trailer so minimizing water use is the least of my concerns. ;)
