well I don't think it is quite twice the water considering that some folks who use a stinky slinky have one of those back flow devices and fill up their black tank 2-3 times to get the crud out, and that Stinky slinky rinser attachment I just saw at walmart probably uses quite a bit of water to get that slinky clean. I assume then that you also think that those back flow devices should be banned?

In terms of water usage the sewer solution uses additional water to do what electric does with a macerator and what gravity does with a stinky slinky. The SS without a doubt uses additional water much in the same way the macerator uses additional electric vs. the slinky.
Backflushing is really a separate issue. You do not need to back flush with either of the three methods unless you choose to.
My experience has been that the slinky requires less backflushing because the force of dumping water through a 3" hose clears the tank more effectively than dumping through a 1" hose.
