Awning use @ beach???

We have a couple beach trips coming up soon to Emerald Isle in NC and then Edisto Beach State Park in SC. How do you manage your awning in windy environment such as the beach?

I have the straps that putl the awning tight to the side frame. Any other tips would be much appreciated...
  • I tie mine down, I have corkscrew anchors.

The bad thing about this set up is that the wind can stretch the awning.
  • My awning is electric and extends straight out. I attach a rope to the extender arms and stake them to the ground.

That keep it from being blown back over the roof by an unexpected gust, it does not keep it from shaking violently and flapping in a strong wind.

In any significant wind we roll it in. I do not believe a TT awning is structurally sound enough withstand repeated stress and stain on its component parts.

Others may have more experience than I since I choose not to chance leaving it out when it is windy.
  • Roll it up. Get a site with the door side in the afternoon shade.
