B-24 Liberator bomber - Willow Run

I had a freind in the second wave at Normandie and he said the whole sky was black with bombers across the chanel. Another friend said he was sent from Tulsa flying on Stearmans to San Antonio for training on B 26s (2 engines) When their bus reached the gate, a B 26 drilled in right in front of them and he said they were held at gunpoint in their barracks so no one would desert. He said he flew 200 missions and about 2500 hrs in one but he was always afraid of it. There is a B24 sitting in the New Smyrna Beach FL airport.
