Back From Storage

Picked up the PortaNobby today from storage.

It was stored in a former dairy barn along with many other trailers, boats and cars.

No mouse invasion.

12.7 V on the batteries and 60PSI in all tires.

After 6 months in storage during one of the crappiest winters I can remember....I'd say it was worth the $600.

Now on to re-stocking and doing a few mods.

First 2018 trip....May 11

Sigh. I love camping in May.

Returned from a 4 day at Killbear Provincial Park.

There might have been 30 campers in the park on the Saturday.

    Sunday....there was about 6.

    Peace and quiet.

Read 2 books, drank some beer and smoked some cigars.

We quit traveling in Summer when we retired, except for the annual family gathering at Lake Hartwell in June.
For a while we were the only occupants in the campground below Fontana Dam this past weekend. It was very quiet and pleasant.

  • Nice, grabbing mine this Saturday, didn't do it last weekend because I was tent camping with the Scouts, probably just as well since I woke up to over on the rainfly Sunday morning. Hopefully this was truly the end of this winter that wouldn't end.
  • I had a chance yesterday between rain storms to de-winterize the Porta-Nobby.

I'm happy to say that all systems are up and running without any glitches.

Checked my spare and found the valve stem cracked....replaced that.Tire is a 2010 with zero road time...decided to keep it a couple more years.

Just came back from my restocking shopping. $300 in food and condiments.

$90 beer and $150 in Vodkas.

    I think I'm ready. LOL.

I still have to buy my actual fresh food for my first trip in a week.
  • Got mine saturday. No issues. I take my battery home and put it on a tender one day a month.

    Just ordered new tires today.

I hope it don’t snow now. We’re getting out hot tub tomorrow and I may uncover and open the pool this week. Supposed to be in the 80’s for a couple days!!!

Do you think it's safe to assume winter is over? :B

    Of course not, you silly.

    It actually snowed Sat. night....AGAIN!

Probably because I picked up the trailer.
  • Good deal! I am still waiting on the ground to dry up before pulling my Hilton across the yard to the driveway. I have other projects that need attention before that happens, anyway. Also, the lakes still have an ice sheet so that interrupts one of my favorite pastimes, fishing. Game fishing season opener in MN is May 12th. There will probably be ice on Northern lakes but Mom Nature is pushing us along, quickly!
  • Brought mine home a couple of weeks ago and did some repairs, starter went out on the Onan. I also put in a new vinyl insert to cover the screws, the old one had shrunk on both sides about 6in.

I agree with covered storage being a good investment. Mine looks like new despite having some age on it.
