Backcountry Discovery Routes

I know this is a forum for truck camper enthusiasts but I've seen numerous truck campers express interest in the use of motorcycles/ATVs/Snowmachines/horses being used in combination with their TCs. Anyway, I discovered this website while I was deployed and just wanted to share it with everyone as I believe it would be a great resource for those who live in the western states. Whether you use this just to assist in your boondocking experience or in combination with something you pull behind your rig I think you'll find this to be very helpful. Each western state is slowly being done...and what is it you ask? A backcountry discovery route that crosses a state (CO for example) from the southern border to the northern border of the state all on backcountry roads and trails. In addition to the GPS points along the route which you can download for free you can also buy a map and video of the route. We have since moved to VA but hope to be back out west in a couple years and these BCDRs will provide a significant tool for my families TC travels.

  • Yes, I have been involved in it for couple of years now. They have a pretty active Facebook page too. Unfortunately, I destroyed my GSA last month and will be a while before I get back up on the replacement GSA, arriving on the 22nd. The BDR has provided some great locations in the Mojave Desert and Colorado areas.
