  • Beautiful! (If the sizes work...I'll have to measure again) Thank you Senor Griswold! I knew I'd seen one somewhere in the deep dark distant past.....

    That's a slick catalog/link you sent too!

That happens to us a ton. A fellow 1191 owner complained to me about the same thing WRT the sink. I bought rubber corks that I jam in there (sink and shower) as tight as I can and it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. When it doesn't it's ugly. I've had the walls of the bathroom covered with the P-trap water many times. I try to remember to lay a towel in the sink on long trips to at least keep the splashing down. I'd like to find some corks that are adjustable....seems like I saw some once where there is a flat washer on the bottom and on the top, and you crank a bolt to squash the rubber out wide enough to lock into place.

    Anybody seen these anywhere?

That type of plug is used to close off the drain in small boats, typically in the transom. Look at a marine supply house, such as West Marine.

    Here they are:

Shower drains are a big cause as the dry out and back comes the smell.
  • it is not only the vent that may cause that smell but I have found that the water splashes out of the "P" trap from the rocking and rolling of the unit and the odors are coming up from either the sinks or the shower drains
  • I've had the loose vent cap under the sink as well and just had to tighten it back down. The big question would be what you thought you could identify from the bad smell, human waste or rotten food in the grey tank? In your toilet area, do you leave a 1/4" of water in your bowl? It helps make a seal.

another troubleshooting thing you can do is remove the vent cover on the roof and chase the vent tube to the black tank to make sure it isn't plugged with debris or a mud nest.
  • Sounds like it could be what is called the "auto vent". Get a flashlight and look up under the sink where the drain pipes are. There should be one of these little vents that let air into the holding tanks. Sometimes they fail letting gasses get back out. Any hardware or home improvement store should have them.
