Tuning or modding is not a need, it should be a want just like with most of the things people spend their money on such as RV's or motorcycles. I am pretty sure I can find something that someone else spends their money on that I find stupid, but don't say anything about it because it is their money that they earned themselves to do with as the please and it is none of my business how they spend it. After all, I think owning and spending tens of thousands of dollars on a motorbike is as useless as tits on a bull, but you don't see me chastising people for owning them.
