Battery Fuse Blowing

We bought a new 2024 Salem FSX 174BHLE from Camping World about 4 months ago.  We really like the trailer but have been having an issue since delivery of the trailer.

The first time we tried to use the trailer we couldn’t get the interior lights to work on battery and finally figured out that the 15amp fuse had blown for the battery on the converter.  Replaced the battery fuse and it blew shortly after, although I am not sure when it happened.

I have figured out that it blows when you turn the AC main circuit breaker on/off.

I have called the selling dealer multiple times and they have been no help in their service department.  They are also an hour and half away from us.  I assume we have a warranty on the trailer but I am not sure I can get any assistance from them.

I have a multimeter and feel like a can diagnose the issue with some guidance.  Where can I start?

  • My last 2 RVs were Forest River and I find contacting them directly helped tremendously. They are great to work with and will get you more traction than going to a dealer - especially camping world.

  • if your comfortable, the first thing I would do is look at the wiring connections in the panel and where stuff ties into the converter and make sure they are all tight and nothing is touching anything else causing a short.

but having said that, it is a new sale only 4 months old.. get camping world to fix it.

Thank you.  I think I have called Camping World four times, each time they said they would get someone to return my call from the service department.  I haven’t ever received a call back from the service department.  I was trying to see if I could bring it back to them.  If they are too busy to return a call I’m a little concerned how long they’d take to fix the issue.  I quit trying after a while.

Wonder if I could take it to a Forest River dealer near me?

Sadly, that is CW's standard operating procedures. Had mine for 4 months doing warranty work. Called for an update and they said it had been done for weeks. They never bothered to call.

Another time they had it for 9 months working on damage from a tire blowout. The only way I could get updates was to drive to the store, about an hour 1 way. Would not return calls. When I finally got it, still wasn't completely done. I took it somewhere else.

I would go to another dealer. Perhaps try getting a manager at CW on the phone.
