Battery Seperator

I have this unit Samlex ACR-160

Works great and protects the stating battery automatically.

If the campers power is tapping the trucks trailer charge line, 'that' truck should already have relay thats only hot when truck running.
If not a simple constant duty solenoid works fine-triggered by truck ignition.

My 1999 f-250 7.3 will not drain the truck batteries but it will charge the camper batteries when running. Yours should be the same I would think.

I have used a battery separator for years it works great only charges the
camper battery can't drain the truck battery. It is basically just a high
current diode mounted on a heat sink so that current can only flow in one
direction to the camper battery.

The camper power will come directly from the truck battery with a 40 amp auto-reset fuse in the line.
I will have to do a web search of a "simple constant duty" solinoid.

This Isolator looks like the ones I have used

Before buying anything you may want to check the hot lead on your trailer lead with the truck off. I would bet that since you have a Ford that there will be no power to it until you turn the ignition on.

Thanks, like i mentioned, the hot will be directly from the battery with an inline fuse. It is a Lance so the hot lead will be a larger wire than the trailer hookups use.

I put a solenoid mounted just in front of the fuse panel on the truck. Still has the inline fuse for safety.

I think it was $9 on ebay. Working great for 2 years.

Mines mounted on firewall since '09, direct from battery (thru fuse)-output goes thru thermal breaker to trucks camper plug. Trigger wire can be any minimal hot lead that's hot with ignition, I used lead from inside cab to add manual disable switch.
The constant or continuous duty solenoids can be had in 3 or 4 terminals - same, just grounds either thru case or wired ground.
