I store my trailer in the drive way. Therefor I can leave it hooked up to shore power 24/7. I have two 6v in series. I just got them yesterday and want to make the most of them.
Should I simply leave the trailer plugged in 24/7 keeping the batteries topped off.
I keep our trailer parked here at the house during the camping season and for years have just left it plugged in, allowing the converter's charging system to automatically maintain a proper charge on the battery. My G27 battery is now 7 yrs old, no issues at all. HOWEVER, there is one major drawback to this approach that neither your nor anyone else has mentioned - if you leave your trailer plugged in 24/7 you're unnecessarily exposing it to variations and errors with the incoming source power, particularly surges, spikes, and low / high voltage conditions. These are much more common than you would think, not only when camping but anytime you're plugged in anywhere ... the solution of course is one version or another of surge protector or EMS device that can detect errors and shut off power to the coach whenever necessary. I now protect my own trailer with a Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C and wouldn't ever again consider being without one. This is JMO but since a weekly top up for a couple of hours is all that is needed to maintain a battery I'd opt in your case for not leaving the trailer plugged it 24/7 if the trailer is not otherwise protected from damaging line errors.
