With the battery in the house, I know it is not likely to freeze, be over charged, go dry, have the power accidentally disconnected or get stolen. It sits patiently waiting for spring or a mid-winter trip.
Leaving it on the TT and plugged in last winter did not seem to have any particular advantage.
Either method works.
