Even if you don't have a switch, disconnecting one of the battery leads does the same thing.
It is OK to remove the batteries during a severe winter but in most cases it is NOT NECESSARY. And disconnecting them and lugging them around introduces other potential hazards that are not present if left alone.
Nobody's method is "wrong".....unless you neglect it completely.....so I don't understand repeated and continuing discussions where everybody feels obligated to defend their "method" implying that everybody else is wrong.
