Would have been nice to see the tach's of each truck during those runs. The max. rpm in the V-8's is much higher than the I-6, thus so is the max. hp, thus so is speed. I am not running anyone up a hill period. 18 wheelers with 80k running 20 mph maybe different, those trucks I will probably pass, but not with wide open throttle and second gear.
You must have not been paying attention to the times of the GM vs the RAM. :h- john_betExplorer IIWould have been nice to see the tach's of each truck during those runs. I was not bad mouthing GM, just their lop sided video. And if you read my post you would see I gave Ford just as much credit for theirs. ;)
FWIW, I am pro GM, but I haven't done what I consider "bad mouthing" GM's competition. Maybe it is just how we perceive things?
Anyhow, you guys buy what you want. Competition makes all truck brands better for everyone. :) - _DJ_1Explorer II@ Engineer...........LOL

Anyone really buy a pickup based on these videos? I'd like to see all three driven off a cliff, Ford will beat the other two to the bottom, Ford wins again!
Are you saying the Ford has better aerodynamics? Cause if you aren't, you don't do physics very well do you?
Wow, aerodynamics, doing physics, what was I thinking? - TerryallanExplorer II

As for me. I don't like any diesels.
My thoughts! I love my gasoline powered power plant.
I'm just a lifelong truck fool in general, gas or diesel, half-tons (the sports cars of the truck world) right up to class 8's with 18-speed gearboxes and pretty much everything in-between.
My girlfriend asked me what my dream "car" would be if money was no object...she looked at me funny when I told her I'd buy a singled Mack B-series with a sleeper LOL
The big trucks are what turned me against diesels. After sitting on a diesel 24-7. Listening to the turbo, and the big wheels whine, and being thrown around in the sleeper, For weeks at a time. Plus, Splitting the top side of the gears, I don't care if I ever drive one again.
So all that want to play big truck driver. Go ahead. I'm just glad, I don't have to be a trailertruck driver any more - HannibalExplorer

If everything was fair and square and all three trucks were "best spec" offered by their OEM's for towing 20,000lbs trailers up a grade as fast as possible I'm good with the results.
I am thinking on a new tow vehicle. What benefit is this test showing me again?
Shows all three are capable of towing 20k lbs of mid profile 5th wheel up the grades at a respectable speed without failure.;) - Engineer9860Explorer

Ford test, Ford wins. No surprise there. Just like recently someone posted a Chev test where they drove over uneven ramps to test for cab/box flex. Of course Chev didn't move at all and Ford flexed so much it popped a big dent in the tailgate.
Guess that's what happens when you loosen up some bed bolts!!!
If that were true I should have big dents all over my truck!!!!~DJ~ wrote:
Whenever you see a post by engineer you can ALWAYS count on one of two things. Pro GM or bad mouthing the competition.

Especially since the 2011 Duramax smoked both of these trucks on similar tests a couple years ago. Those well publicized tests run by different organizations all came up with the same result as the winner. If this test is confirmed by others, I think it speaks volumes of how far the performance in these HD trucks has come in just a couple years (at least Ram and Ford). I don't think the 2015 GM HD will fair any better since the running gear is the same for now as I understand. I will still buy the GM product regardless because I am hard headed like that, but the 30K trailer capacity of the Ram does pull on me.
