Anyone really buy a pickup based on these videos? I'd like to see all three driven off a cliff, Ford will beat the other two to the bottom, Ford wins again!
Are you saying the Ford has better aerodynamics? Cause if you aren't, you don't do physics very well do you? - 4x4ordExplorer IIIIn my opinion, this Ford commercial does as much for Ram as it does for Ford. The fact that Ram has now got a truck that can compete with the Ford is a bigger deal than a few seconds on a several mile hill climb.
- _DJ_1Explorer IIFord test, Ford wins. No surprise there. Just like recently someone posted a Chev test where they drove over uneven ramps to test for cab/box flex. Of course Chev didn't move at all and Ford flexed so much it popped a big dent in the tailgate.
Guess that's what happens when you loosen up some bed bolts!!!
If that were true I should have big dents all over my truck!!!! - HannibalExplorer

Anyone know why the 3 trucks had different rear ratio's? If GM 3.73 is their lowest ratio why not test all 3 at ratio's close to 3.73?
I noticed the truck with the lowest rear ratio climbed the fastest...
If the transmission gear ratios and tire sizes are considered did they then have the same final drive overall gear reduction?
Do they all have the same governed engine rpm?
Do they all have the same power output?
What was the fuel rate?
Do they have headlights you can level without tools?
Because Ford offered a better ratio for climbing the hill if that's what made the difference. GM and Ram didn't. That's how competition works. Ford won with a factory equipped truck. I'd brag too if I were Ford. And you want to "handicap" the Ford so the GM and Ram can keep up? What's fair about that? - Me_AgainExplorer III

Do you mean the very high "Class leading" GVWR on Fords is to account for them being so heavy to start with??????
Chris - gtsumExplorerAll three of the new one tons look impressive. Good for everyone looking to buy!

I-6 and V-8 have very different RPM ranges, torque ranges and HP peaks at different RPM's. Axles ratio are determined by transmission gear ratio's. The Duramax/Allison has almost always been sold with 3.73 gears. Dodge/Cummins has been sold with many gear ratio's and 6 or more different auto trannies, and several manuals. Ford's always seem to have low ratio's and lots of RPM's. Double overdrive 6 speed auto's seem to be the norm now(two overdrive gears - 5th and 6th).
If a manufacturer is going to provide a truck for a tow competition, they most like will provide it with their best towing ratio!!!!! - notevenExplorer IIIAnyone know why the 3 trucks had different rear ratio's? If GM 3.73 is their lowest ratio why not test all 3 at ratio's close to 3.73?

Impressive Ford!! Will the new Super Duty come with auto levelling head lights? My lil bro is buying a new F350 soon, he needs to know if that case of Moosehead he puts in the back will make it squat and will the headlights "self" adjust to the added weight?
baa ha ha :p
Ha ha ha ! Tools and a tape measure and masking tape and a gradge door or similar flat wall beside a level road 58-1/2 inches away ... simple...
