- DirtyOilExplorerI remember a bit back Mickey and his band of testers did this type of comparison, they had cameras inside the cab looking at the inst panels, as the "Impressive" Ford passed the Ram they showed the inst panel of said Ram... the oil pressure gauge was indicating 0 pressure, did the "band" do something to the Ram, unplug something, tweak on the Ram to gain the upper hand? Surely one wouldn't think these guys would run a engine with no oil pressure be it a Ram or a Ford?
There are faults in any testing/comparisons, bias plays a huge role be you the automaker, CR or pickup.com or any these for the money rags/forums. - DirtyOilExplorerImpressive Ford!! Will the new Super Duty come with auto levelling head lights? My lil bro is buying a new F350 soon, he needs to know if that case of Moosehead he puts in the back will make it squat and will the headlights "self" adjust to the added weight?

As for me. I don't like any diesels.
My thoughts! I love my gasoline powered power plant.
I'm just a lifelong truck fool in general, gas or diesel, half-tons (the sports cars of the truck world) right up to class 8's with 18-speed gearboxes and pretty much everything in-between.
My girlfriend asked me what my dream "car" would be if money was no object...she looked at me funny when I told her I'd buy a singled Mack B-series with a sleeper LOL
The Mack B series, my favourite working truck of all time.
About 20 years ago I was talking to a independent Canadian trucker who was in his 60's. He had just delivered a load of recreational boats to a marine dealer. He had picked up the cargo in Washington state and driven them to the province of Manitoba...a fair distance.
He told me, he had bought the Mack (B 61 if memory serves me) in the late 1950's when he was a young man and this truck had earned his living during his career, since that time . I recall him telling me it had over 5 million miles on the odometer. It was in beautiful shape. Very well maintained.
Les
I recall reading that there's a Mack B61 wrecker in NJ that's been in service since the 60s with around 3 million miles on the chassis IIRC.
Won't be tomorrow but someday I'll own a B61 :C. My father owned a 1970 Mack F711 cab over with a 15-speed twin-stick that I practically grew up in.
Sorry, Mack hijack over & out... - bmanningExplorer

PS- Not to split hairs here, but the ISB that goes into class 6 & 7 trucks is not identical to the ISB in Ram pickups. They are brothers, but not twins.
I agree and here's what I said. To quote myself;
"The Cummins B series 6 cylinder diesel...is in the same family of diesels, just another version in the Dodge pickup. "
:)Les
I know Les; my comment wasn't directed @ you in particular, and the ISB's a great motor no matter the version being discussed. - LessmoreExplorer II

Nice Ford infomercial from their truck communications manager. I see Mike has joined the Forum. Tell me Mike how can someone take your reviews seriously if you are on Ford's payroll :h :@
It was reported by another member you left PT.COM (not Ford) but you posted "Hello all. This was a Ford conducted test with the most capable trucks available from GM and Ram. GM was a 3.73 because that's the shortest axle available. If they had a 4.10 or 4.30, we would have tested that"
Mike joined Ford Motor Company in 2011 as Truck Communications Manager.

Note: that I do agree that the Ford and GM having V-8 diesels will out preform the in-line diesel in a drag race, not sure why that would matter. However the in-line will last much longer and have lower maintenance cost. Also what transmission was in the Ram and GM
Chrysler's infomercial Ram wins, as expected. Their test their truck wins. Means nothing at all.
Mike could you explain why your magazine is testing a 2014 F-450 against a 2014 Ram 3500? Would a head to head test with a F-350 be a better test?
Don
Edited to correct error.
Don,
I think at this point the F450 vs the 3500 is a moot point. Everyone just seen the F350 dust the 3500. :B
BTW... I'm sure other's here don't take you serious knowing you're on the Fiat payroll. :W- No surprises in this video... :B
Thanks for chiming in Mike... The Best Never Rests :C
