I don't care about who's fastest up the grade either. Obviously! However, what the test did show is that all three ran balls out towing 20k lbs up the grade with no failures or hiccups. That is the criteria I'm interested in. All three proved very capable.
BUT, (a big one :B ) here's my point. I personally would hope that I never end up with any of those trucks used in the commercial.
They've been abused, albeit possibly short term, but abused nevertheless.
Its always been mentioned on here, when giving advice for folks doing some towing over, say I-70 west of Denver, to NOT try and be fastest up the hill because one does NOT want their EGT's to go too high, or over 1200 degrees I believe.
Can one imagine what the EGT's were on those three vehicles???? Turbo boosting to the max and running flat out as hard as they could go?????
They had to be getting very, I mean VERY very warm.
EGT = exhaust gas temperature. Perrysburg Dodgeboy wrote:
Yep I noticed Mikey never did answer my direct question to him did he. Give that man the number one Fan Boy award, but then if Ford was paying me high six figures I would be their number Fan Boy also. And yep I'm a Chrysler Fan Boy and hell they only pay me low low low six figures with OT.
Fish come on dude, Man Up, Ford used a truck that is NOT even in production! If you can't bet the competition fair and square, cheat right?
So Mike here is another question, when are you going to test a 2014 F-350, GMC/Chevy 3500 and a Ram 3500 MAX TOW at Max GVCWR for all three trucks? Are you and Ford Man enough to do that? My bet is NO you guys are not and you have proved! Who, be that worthless test you are doing right now with a F-450 and a Ram 3500. Your true blue colors are showing Mike, along with your former magazine (still on the payroll though).

Don,
It's not trivial Ford used a truck that's not in production "yet" and yes this is advertisement/marketing "It's got you talking about it"! :W
The next time the "Texas State Fair" will be around (Key word here "Texas State Fair" home of the truck), Ford will already have the '15 models in the hands of owners. The "Texas State Fair" is the Super Bowl of truck marketing. Is this too hard to understand? :S Obviously it is for huntindog and Rick! :B- 45RicochetExplorer

9 pages nicely discussing a Ford superiority that isn't available for purchase, against competition that IS available for purchase.....
By the time 2015 models are available from all three, this promotional video may not be realavent at all as all the performance capabilities may be different for all three.
In other words....There is no Ford superiority at the present time, since nobody can buy one. If and when one can be bought, the present fictional superiority may not exist.
Typical of Ford though to do such a smoke and mirrors test.
Nice try to spin this story huntindog. Ford introduced bits of information along with this video at the biggest truck show in the world the "Texas State Fair". There will be no other opportunity this big to market their up coming changes for the '15 model trucks.
Nice try... No Spin Zone! :B
Can I buy one now? NO!
Did Ford actually release any power figures? NO!
So the facts are that we have a Ford truck that actually doesn't exist as far as the buying public is concerned being trumpeted as superior to the competitions trucks that CAN be purchased today, and whose power figures have been published!
And nobody can say just what the power levels will be for all three when they are all available for purchase.
NO spin here. Just the facts.
X2 Dog. This entire thread is about an advertisement, period. Sounds like the 2003 introduction of the 6.0 all over again.
We need more power to remain the top power plant at all costs boys. Don't worry about what Navistar tells you as far as tuning.
Didn't turn out to well back then and I suspect the same BLUE idea is going to repeat itself shortly.
It would be nice if someone like PUT.com had some real unbiased testing, or put a 30k lb trailer on it. Oh wait, at this time the Ram is the only one available for testing that weight per PUT rules. Go figure :B
Having said that, it's nice to see Ferd stepping up to match the recent Ram improvements. Can't wait for the 2020 MY to be released next month :R - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerYep I noticed Mikey never did answer my direct question to him did he. Same size tires and gear ratios then you would have a fair comparison. - D_MAXExplorerI am sooooo impressed I just listed my Duramax! Oh wait this is a 2015 Superduty so i'll have to wait another year to dominate the hill climbs by 7 seconds! Good to see they are still the ugliest trucks on the market though. Relax ford fanboys just teasing ya. Enjoy your rides friends.
