Bed Lifter

"Give me a lever long enough, and I shall move the world.

Has anyone got any ideas for some kind of extended handle to aid in raising the platform bed to access the storage underneath? I know that many use a combination of lift struts, but I am thinking of a two or three foot long handle extending from the foot of the bed. It was easy, until I got a new mattress. I don't get in there often, just being lazy.

  • Cut a groove in the pedestal and slip an appropriate size piece of pipe into the groove. Pull out and lift up. The pipe end on the floor, under the bed, should give you plenty of leverage. The pipe would slip back under the pedestal out of the way when not in use.
