You would do so because you have money to spend, and would have bragging rights. I am of this opinion due to your stated wants/needs.
Just a by-the-by, you can get 1/2" horse mats. They are 3'x4', and very easy to handle/cut.
No matter how you do it, you will probably find fault with it. I think you have done your homework, and should go with what you think will work for you.
My newly acquired truck has a Line-X spray in Liner. I am using a 1/2" horse stall mat over it. My TC is fiberglass, and much slicker on the bottom than most TCs.
