Do you ever run yours over 6 years? Some people have told me that Michelins are very good for up to 6 years but show a lot of dryrot after that. If fact, when I had a 7 year old Michelin suffer from explosive failure and returned it to Michelin for analysis their official response was that nobody in their right mind would run a tire over 6 years and they would not accept any responsibility for me having done so. The QC manager at Michelin also told me that he had seen a lot of problems with RV's that were parked loaded heavy for extended periods. The op's profile says that he has a "Tow vehicle 1999 Dodge 2500 4X4, SRW, 5.9 Cummins" indicating that it is roughly 18 years old so he must be averaging 9 years per tire set. If so, I would say that is his real problem. I would just wish that the tire manufacturers would come up with some definition of how many years a tire should last and stick with it, even if the tire has never been sold and is still on a rack somewhere as a new tire.
I would have to,d you the same thing as well as where you could put the tire if I was the mfg.
who in their right mind would expect a tire to last more than 7 years on the mfgs dime?
Like asking for warranty on something old just cause you don't think it should have wore out under your special and careful use when the mfg has no idea what conditions it was subject to or even cares.
