What are your thoughts on the Keystone Hideout vs the Keystone Cougar?
A dealership I visited today told me the Hideout is about $10K less expensive than the Cougar?
Being I need it pretty small I found the Hideout 24LHSWE was pretty nice.
I don't know the Hideout personally.
Did you get a chance to walk in the Hideout model you discussed with them?
I've been in a few campers that really were impressive, and I've been in a few that looked like that $2 leftover paneling that we couldn't get out of fast enough.
Some different brands/models have amenities that others don't.
I'm partial to ours...oak panels on the fridge to match the oak cabinet doors as an example.
When you look at campers, take pics, take a notebook. Get the exact year, make, model and jot down what you like and don't like and what it has or is missing.
Open all the cabinets, drawers, recliners, beds, etc. One camper we looked at had lower ceilings, but the killer was opening the fold out sofa, you couldn't close the rear bedroom area accordion door- the corner went beyond the track's edge.
We wanted to have access to the bathroom with the slide closed for along the road stops for lunch and breaks.
Cabinet and drawer space wasn't much of an issue with our last camper, but this recent one is more for travel, so lots more clothes, towels, etc for more people.
Sit down and picture making meals, reading a book, whatever your pastime is. Make sure it suits YOUR purposes.
It's good you are getting out to dealers. After a few scatter shots, you should start getting a feel for what you like and don't like, then (if like us), you'll find a model and start searching for those one to three models across multiple years.
Have you settled on new, used, or gently used yet?
