If you want powered, that is the answer. Otherwise, buy him a shorter travel trailer which would be even less. Either way, it has to be stored when off the truck. The other issue is insurance is a lot more expensive with the Class C compared to the nonpowered TT.
BTW, even a short TT has as much usable space as most truck campers. The other advantage of a smaller TT is that you probably can tow it behind your TC if that is what you have. We had a great time when I pulled my wife’s aunt and uncles TT behind our TC to Yellowstone. My TC is a crew cab, so we had plenty of room on the drive as well.
