The Tundra is a great tow vehicle if you can manage to stay under the low payload ratings. The engine has tons of power but won't necessarily out pull the 2500s. It has more output than the old GM 6.0 and is comparable to the Ram 5.7l Hemi but is losing out to the newer and more powerful 6.4 hemi and even the Ford ecoboost.
I pulled the TT in my sig with an '07 Tundra and it pulled (power wise) just as well, if not slightly better, than my current Ram 2500 with the 5.7. I chalk that up to the Tundra being 1k pounds lighter and the 4.30 gears vs 4.10s in the Ram.
The big difference is in the suspension. The Ram is stiffer and handles the weight better. I'm no longer overloaded.
That being said, if the new Tundra had 500lbs more payload I would trade back for one in a heartbeat. The quality and reliability of this Ram is highly disappointing.
