I am going to buy the predator 3500 generator. wt is 100#. I am thinking of mounting the generator platform over the LPG tanks or on the rear bumper. What is the best location for weight distribution and wiring it to run?

I'm not in a TT but a class C. I chose to mount on the rear but had a new bumper with dual receivers added.I suggest you add receivers and build a platform/box.

Either option has its issues. Can you add 100 pounds to your tongue weight comfortably? Mounting on the rear takes lots of reinforcement and unloads tongue weight.

I do not think I would mount a 100# generator on a TT that was not designed for it. Certainly not on my back bumper, it is far to thin.We hauled ours in the TT or in the truck bed the few times we needed one. If I used one often, I would buy the lightest unit available and carry it in the truck bed.

I added a platform on the tongue above the batteries and propane. The platform itself was 65 lbs and my Champion 3400 generator is a little over 110 lbs. My tongue weight was already about 800 - 850 lbs. The combined total was approaching max tongue weight, and in my case, max trailer weight. Also, it seemed obvious that the generator would be louder up there, and more importantly would attract more attention. I even spent another $150 on theft proofing it, before deciding it would be simpler and less stressful if I left it in the bed of the truck. Expensive lesson for me. YMMV

I use a Stromberg Carlson trailer tray over the propane tanks and bolted my Champion 3100 inverter generator to it on my Springdale 189. I removed the wheels and used the axle and the front pad mounts as mounting points so it will slow down a thief. At around $180, the tray is kind of expensive for some bent tube and a tray, but it bolts up solidly and works great so I guess its worth it. Strangely, it does not increase the measured tongue weight the full amount of the tray / gen combo; I think it was 85% of the total if I remember. I don't have a front window so it works for me.

On a previous trailer (Pioneer 18t6) I welded rails on the frame and mounted on the rear ((not on the bumper, but on rails welded to the frame). I think the total weight was around 160 lbs or so, but it only decreased tongue weight around 40 lbs measured. I was still at around 12% tongue weight when loaded for travel.

It was in a lockable aluminum pickup bed box that I modified with a few computer fans and vent doors and ran the exhaust thru the wall to the outside. I also glued ceiling tiles to the inside of the box. It was an open frame gen and with the box closed and the vents open, it was pretty quiet. I eventually updated to an inverter gen and it was almost undetectable then. I have heard that mounting on the back of a trailer will beat the gen to death and throw the tongue weight to an unsafe condition, but neither was the case with my setup.

I would recommend measuring the tongue weight after either installation, front or rear, and adjust as necessary. I am fortunate that a friend has the nice Sherline scale that he willingly loans out...

Yes truck bed, I run it in the bed with the tail gate closed and all the noise go's upward, I have a 2000 watt Champion invertor.

another vote for the truck bed!
also as somebody else already said, keep it protected from the weather with either a truck cap or tonneau cover
with a truck cap, you can run it in there with the liftgate and tailgate open of course

I bought a cheap Tonneau cover for my truck on eBay and keep the Champion gen under it. Simply open it up when I want to run the generator.

From what I see in your signature, I would not mount a generator anywhere on your TT.
A micro mini TT just doesn't strike me as having a frame that can handle anything extra.
Heck most of todays standard TTs have lightweight frames.

I went with the smaller generator, so I (and my wife) can easily lift it. If I find I need the extra watts, I'll buy a 2nd unit to parallel.

Truck bed is best. Mounting ANY genny on the back is asking for issues down the road. All the road crud and rain and everything else will infiltrate the unit and it will fail and knowing HF, you won't be returning t for credit either. keep it in the bed of the truck and keep it protected. None of the generators sold today have waterproof electronics. Keep that in mind.
