I actually had my original GlowSteps apart trying different combinations. The steps take up a surprisingly amount more of room when offset stacked. I do not leave me mine on the back of the TC when traveling, so compactness did play a role. Going to the 8" deep step is so much easier climbing and going down, but that did add to the bulk when folded too. Adding two steps and the deeper tread made the steps about 85% heavier, but I was more concerned about the bulk of the entire stair/step solution and its stability than the weight.
