When I read the minimalist approach to ladder/step safety I cringe...
When i was younger if I tripped and fell I'd just roll with it, get up and keep going
as I got older I'd be sore....
another few years and janet was breaking bones...tearing up joints
Surgeries, extreme pain, long recover
Maybe the difference in the cost of a cheap ladder or a step stool should be measured in the ultimate cost in human terms instead of in terms related to the cost of the best steps mony can buy.... and the added effort to make them stable in any situation.
How many pennies a day would it take to have the best possible solution?
Life is priceless.
Jim (bigfootford) is one of the smartest people that I've ever personally known... I'd follow his lead...
And I know that he listens, and will be looking to impliment ideas from others to make his project the best ever.
Sleeeepy
fyi... My side intrance 2003 Lance 1161 came with only one sideout and a second fold dowb step leaving a very long next step (long fall) to the ground when we'd get out of the camper.
Within 30 days I adapted a double fold out step that made it just right (that made a totally of 3 outside steps). The replcement step was several inches wider too.
The next year Lance switched to the double fold out step... like the one that I'd changed to.
