BFG 285-70-17 ...

Finally got rid of the stock tires on my Chevy 2500HD 4x4 ...

Installed BFG 285-70-17 A/T KO2 ... very nice fit and ride. These fit on the 2500HD with no fender rub in front or rear. Looks like anything larger (taller) might rub on the front fender guard, maybe. I know the 265-70-16 will barely rub on the 1500 GM, so these will not fit those for certain without a lift.

Great ride, quiet, and smooth. A little different tread than the KO, but just as nice looking, fills the wheel wells a bit better than the stock 265's as well... Happy Camper here :) :)

    Monkey,

What year is your HD??? I keep trying to figure out what tire to go with in our '13 HD. Having 20's makes the selection harder though!!! Have considered, but don't really want to change rims if I don't have to.

2015 Chevy 2500HD DBL Cab 4x4 ... Stock Rims - I might change the rims for looks, but it fits and rides fine on stock 17" ... I did nothing to the wheel wells -- on my 2003, I had 265's and had to clip the plastic surrounds, but not on this HD. Plenty of clearance w/285's.

Keep us posted on how the tires do please.

Last time I bought a set of tires it came down to between the KO's and the Cooper A/T3's. A/T3's won based on saving over $200 (may have been almost $300, can't recall for sure!!!), and a 50k or 55k mile tread warranty... Was very happy with how they performed in all conditions, except I never tried them in mud. Everything else they were great. Leaning toward the A/T3's again, but would like a slightly larger tire than stock, that is what is making it tough!!!
  • I agree - tread life is an issue with the BFG's, always has been. But some reviews I read are talking about 50k and up for the KO2's. So, we'll see as we're taking off for west coast trip from Florida in a month and a half. Will put enough miles on it then to give us an idea.

I like the ride and the grip, and the off-road capability to let that go a little bit. If I get 40k-50k miles, I'd be happy enough.

I read one guy that was complaining he got only a little over 20k on a set, but later in the post he said he always ran at the proper psi, 32 lbs on a 2500HD - YIKES, no wonder the tires wore out fast.
  • I have the exact same tire and size on my 2013 F350 landscape truck. They've been really good tires and the two snow/sleet storms we had didn't create one single problem for them. Excellent traction everywhere I've been.

But as Strabo mentioned, I'm worried about tread life. I have about 10K on them and they're still fine but they're worn down more than I thought they'd be. We'll see.
  • We have those tires on our truck, just wish they would last longer, otherwise perfect.

Good report... I almost purchased a set of KO2's since I ran 2 set's of the KO's on my previous truck.

Instead I decided to try the Goodyear Adventure AT's and they sure improved the ride and they're rated for 60k miles. We'll see how they hold up.
