Seems like it would only make sense if someone were putting a lot of miles on it.

Neat idea - how common are natural gas "pumps" at truck-stops or major gas stations? Wonder how much extra weight the LNG system adds to an already heavy vehicle.

Range on pickup trucks disappoints me to no end... my new ram 1500 with 32 gal fuel tank and my old subaru outback with 16 gal fuel tank have almost the same range while towing my little TT (a little over 200 miles per tank)... the subaru v6 gets about 15mpg towing the TT and the ram's v8 ... about 8mpg

CNG stations are popping up now, but still few and far between. You can run it also on gasoline as well. There are websites that locate cng stations. Google "CNG refueling stations".

Another consideration: Natural gas has only 70% of the energy content of an equivalent volume of petroleum fuel; more fuel to do the same work. CNG as a motor fuel is more about less carbon pollution than fuel economy. Why fleet operators such as waste management companies, bus fleets, etc. are moving to CNG.Less problematic to operate an engine on it than diesel with all the computer controls and pollution plumbing..................

Would be cool to use gasoline to get the load up to speed on the highway and then switch over to "gas" to keep things moving! Run a few hundred miles and switch back to gasoline and head into the station...

Maybe its the $2.00 bucks a gallon- that just brings a giant smile to my face!

I can't give up my diesel but I really like the above idea!

I did the numbers about 2 years ago.

NG has right at 50% less BTU's than diesel. That means almost 50% less mileage than diesel. :E

If you have your own pumping station (several more thousand $$$'s) and cheat the tax man to save the road tax and put on a lot of miles, and there is a big difference between NG and diesel, you might come out on the plus side of things if you keep your truck for 15 to 20 years +. :E I'd rather spend my money on a really good investment like the lotto. :B

BTW where are all the people that argued no power loss with NG last time around? :B If your still out there, you need to talk to Chevy because they haven't figured out how the bring the power back up when using NG. :B

Indeed they will. A local government is back on the CNG kick after trying it nearly 20 years ago with about 6 F150's and a $400K fueling station then abandoning the idea. What's old is new all over again.......
