Plenty of power with 355 developed at some insane rpms but towing that little KZ no fun with body sway on every curve. I'll never tow again with the light truck.
The bigger heavier trucks are much more stable even with a little TT; imo a heavier truck will make a huge difference with your long trailer.
What is the length and gvwr of your "little" tt?
My 15 silverado 1500 pulls my 24 foot 6k lb Layton great without ANY of the issues you describe. Was your hitch set up properly? What rpns do you consider "insane"? My truck pulls in the mountains around 3200 rpm depending on what grar it's in but never feels strained at all. It won't pull like a diesel though.
You may be expecting the 1500 to feel like your 25 and 3500s. They wont but they are pleanty capable
With all that said, i agree with the majority of responses, I'd not consider pulling a 38 foot long rig with a 1/2 ton truck. Just my opinion, for many of the reasons stated prior
