Bigfoot camper trade?

I have 1988 or now. To think of it maybe it's 1986 9.5' camper.I have possible trade with 1996 10.5' Canadian camper his is way better lay out and some added features actually. Plus he's throwing in a yamaha generator and a Window shaker aircon unit his is 1160 kg I which would equal 2500 pounds dry.I have 3500 diesel but I have read where my camper weighs1600 dry so that's a huge difference in weight. I'm new to campers and I'm just curious. If anyone number. One,has accurate weight of the Bigfoot and two what you think of the trade.right now I. Can barley getin the bathroom at night when the dinette is down and worse because I have to leave the bathroom door open when dinette is down you can't get out the door its really tight in there for us and two kid's at night

Well that's what I'm asking? I have not endangered anyone for the love of god simply asking. I wonder why they makethem that big if I'm unable to carry it?anyone who actually carries a larger camper would be the feedback I'm looking for and if you are honest about your load you can tell me if we're thinking about getting something beyond the. In my experience with Bigfoots old and new and all sizes it should be an OK fit for your truck. You might be a little over the GVWR (which technically is illegal in BC) but assuming you pack reasonable you should be fine. I think you should consider air bags though because the truck is going to squat a bit.

    Good luck and happy camping.
  • I had a 1996 (or was it 98?) Bigfoot 9.6. The placard said 2200 lbs and it weighed 2800 lbs wet without much gear in it. I now have a 2008 10.4E, the placard says 2900, the documentation with it says 3200 with installed options and it actually weighs 3500 wet with all the gear I take (about 200 lbs max).

The 10.4E has a separate shower stall and rear dinette. The camper feels heavier than the 9.6 on the truck, but better balanced. I have not figured out why. (I removed the 120 lbs roof air and moved 150 lbs of batteries from back to front, which must have helped). This is mounted on my 1999 Ford F350 dually with camper package with some common suspension mods. We could not be happier with the upgrade to the 10.4E.

My Ford is 11,000 GVWR and I am at 11,230 before I climb in, but within the axle ratings both ends.

  • Wouldn't you be better served to get a larger PULL camper than to overload your truck/tires/suspension/brakes ?
I'm not the weight police but one would think the safety of the family would be the first priority .
