I'm lost... after 44 years of continusly owning a TC I need to be taught all over it seems.
My question is serious... I am not trying to muddy the weater.
What campers are being built that a 1 ton dually can't haul.
Does any of the TC manufactures specify a truck larger than a one ton to haul their campers?
To me...
This is a truck camper forum... it isn't about towing a house trailer... it is about placing a truck camper in the bed of the truck and hauling the truck camper.
To me... the truck should be factory equipted... no aftermarket stuff to beef it up.
... will a factory equipted truck haul the biggest... or heaviest TC manufactured?
Thanks in advance for not muddying the water more than it is.

lol, without muddy waters, there wouldn't be any discussions.
'1 ton' hasn't meant a thing in ages. I still can't figure out why everyone uses that term.
And towing is relevant. I dare say 1/2 or more of the T/C owners; it's probably one of the reasons they trend towards the truck camper. Not a lot of 4x Class C's to choose from I think.
I've got to add, I'm as anti weight-police as they get. Seems like half the time on here we're splitting hairs about 50 pounds over on a tire or some stupid crap. But the fact remains, just 'cause the 'payload capacity' looks right, we as humans always add more, tow more and load it imperfectly. And more than anything else, I like to stop when I want too. Brakes are a huge factor in the difference in trucks.
OP was asking a specific question; what's the difference? and a statement based on an assumption probably from lack of information.
I love muddy waters.. if it was really all crystal clear, no one would ask questions.
