Not so. Zeiss full frame apochromatic "Otus" lenses are made in Japan.

Zeiss sold out when they went to Japan to cut cost. I have had both Leica cameras and lenses, I have had a Contax camera with Zeiss lenses, the Leica was far superior with better color and clarity.
