I a word(s): energy density, solar does not provide enough energy per square ft to make that even remotely possible. Also Semi's are closer to our HD trucks than these light p/u trucks in the article are.

Nobody can even build a phone that will stay alive for more than 8 hours; at least mine doesn't. :R
Electric golf carts do work well though! Some even have a pretty good size bed on them.

There always Workhorse- a Volt like rig with an on board generator to extend range, but for the big guys there is Nikola, a zero emission, 1200 mile range between fueling, 1000 horsepower (software limit due to tires)

OK so somehow I ended up envisioning some state finally getting their vision of an RV approved, 20,000 watts worth of solar panels balanced on the roof of a Prius.

I'm sure it will make a great "grocery getter".
