Great article and good info about Alaska, enjoyed the pictures! We're planning on Alaska in 2017, so reading everything we can on the subject. Looks like you had a great trip, mosquitos and all!
I'm already making plans to head back up in 2017, was too early for any real bear watching and photographing. Anybody else want to go?dave17352 wrote:
Traveler, I enjoyed the article. I was interested in your fridge. I have thought about doing the same in my TC. Did the fridge you bought fit through the door or did you have to do something special to get it in there? Perhaps you have posted on your install?
I and the better half take off now and then for a week or two in the western lower 48 without plans. Probably not a good idea in Alaska!
Ok I looked in your posts and found some info on the compressor fridge.
You can watch my install at this link..CR1110 install
TCA (Mello Mike) has a excellent posting on his website about this very same unit. Read his article on his install and I will tell I've haven't had one regret going to a compressor refrigerator. PM me if you need additional information.jefe 4x4 wrote:
Great article, Alex. Your new long lense is a fine addition for popping closeup wildlife.
BTW, i think I'm the only one on here that can blow their own horn, since that was my business. Got any more pics on the Haul Road north of the Arctic Circle?
I was ready to post a link when you beat me to it.

Alex, I fully understand your mosquito comments. We lived in rural Alaska for 25 + years and my wife claims she doesn't need any insect repellent if she stays close to me. LOL I am a bug magnet for some reason. We have taken our TC on our last four round trips to Alaska. Hope to get back north this summer for round trip number 14 by RV. A few more by car/truck and a half dozen by small aircraft, following and landing on the Alaska Hwy as needed. LOl
Yes those beasty loved me, I felt like a pincushion after awhile.- jmtandemExplorer IIIf you do not blow your own horn nobody else will. Congrats on the article. Alaska is on my bucket list. If you can provide a few pics of Prudoe Bay/Bearing Sea and where or how you camped at the end of that road would be appreciated.
