My 6.0 PSD always had enough power that I never thought about modifying it. Now my 6.7 Cummins is even more powerful and I have no plans on making any changes. Can I ask how much you are towing and at what speeds? I never had problems comfortably holding the speed limit over any of the I-5 or Cascade passes with 12k lbs added to the truck. I did slow slightly for some of the passes through the Rockies and Sierras, but that was more due to the comfort of my DW than the comfort of the engine.
OP here...Many times you read where many have their HP upped. I've got an older (2001) 5.9 that serves me well but when I have to replace stuff I'm planning on the "beefed up" version. There have been times when I wish I had more power, especially when we were pulling a 10,000 5th wheel. Our latest is a 7,000 pound trailer, so no worries. I don't need to be the first one up the hill. My kid is just the opposite. He says laughingly "that he can pull me sideways up hills I struggle with".
Just interested in what people have when they say "bombed" for towing.
