- marcsbigfoot20bExplorerMy 7.3 has a Banks Stinger Plus full system. If I want more power I remove the chip in 15 seconds and have the 120 hp tune already loaded with the Banks Automind programmer. Firestone airbags with compressor and 32 row huge trans cooler. Also very helpful are the 55 watt HID projector headlight assemblies in 5000K.
- buddyIamExplorerWhat percentage of these tuners are actually smog legal. I have heard a lot of them are sold with the stipulation they are not for on road use. California now requires a smog test on diesel vehicles, one ton and below, because of the misuse of tuners. But these tuners can be removed prior to the test. Doesn't make much sense does it.
Banks was the first manufacturer that I knew of. That offered many smog legal tuners. Not sure if that is still true. - fj12ryderExplorer III

Nah, some trucks are great towing platforms, but are a bit underpowered. Why spend big bucks buying a new truck when for less than $1000 you can cure that little shortcoming?
If you need 'enhancements' then might want to reconsider what you are towing OR what you are towing with
My 2001 Dodge dually diesel, with 90,000 miles, does an admirable job, but with 245 hp from the factory it is pretty slow on steep climbs.
I could spend $20,000 for a new truck, or spend some money on a Edge EZ, 90 hp injectors, and a tunnel ram. For around $1000, I have about 150 more hp, more torque, and the engine is still well understressed. Now I can easily pull hills and I never feel like the truck is struggling.
And it returns between 10-11 mpg while pulling my 15,000 lb. toyhauler. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIIf you need 'enhancements' then might want to reconsider what you are towing OR what you are towing with
- the_bear_IIExplorerMy truck was sent from the GM factory to an Upfitter. It has been extensively outfitted for towing.
Air Ride Cab & seats
Completely replaced rear suspension with a Link Air Ride setup.
B&W Companion with turnover ball hitch
Exhaust Brake
Power mirrors with heaters
Very Loud Diesel Type air horn
are just some of the "bombs" to enhance the towing experience. - powderman426ExplorerI can understand some brands needing help, but the Cummins????
I have never needed help when it comes to power, so no way José. - N-TroubleExplorerBombed?? OK that's a new one to me...
"Tuned" is a more widely used/known term for what your referring to. - lazydaysExplorerHave EFI Live with Heavy and Light Tow tunes. I believe the heavy is 30hp and the Light is 50. Plus it has the turbo brake. That's my favorite feature but can get annoying in traffic. I usually just turn off the Tow/Haul mode to keep my sanity.

Excursion gas most of 170,000 miles pulling 8500 lb - ib516Explorer IIBoth my Cummins diesels were lightly BOMBed. I had an Edge EZ and RV275 injectors on the 2002 (which was a wonderful combo). With my 2007, I had two different programmers, a Diablosport Predator (crazy power) and a Hypertech Max Energy. I ran the Hypertech in Level 2 most of the time, towiong or not. It worked great.
