It sounds like you're right on track. Our first travel trailer was a small little 20 footer and we pulled it with a Mitsubishi Montero with a 5000# tow rating. We had three kids and took it thousands of miles.

You just need to verify that the weight of the trailer hitch, passengers, and cargo in the Jeep will not exceed the payload capacity.
