Bringing Mans Best Friend

We're still in the planning stages of our next RV and I'm trying to come up with the perfect plan for bringing our 100 pound german shepherd along. We've got one child on the way and another in our plans. This doesn't leave much room in the back seat of a ram 2500. What is the best way to bring a dog along for the fun? I've thought of a topper but I really don't like the look of them so I'm looking for an alternative.

TIA

  • downtheroad that is hilarious but disturbing all at the same time! I hate the look of a topper. Does anyone know of a topper that is really easy to install and remove? I guess that would work?
  • our dogs love camping as much as we do. they ride in the back seat
  • My lab just rides in his Create in the back of the truck no topper. Some are adamant about not putting a create in the trailer, but there are many professional dog handlers such as dogsled teams and trainers that compete in hunt tests that have custom dog trailers, or use horse trailers. I would never let my dog sit freely in the trailer though.
  • Not a lot of choices...ours ride in the back seat of the truck in a crate anchored with straps. We won't even consider having her ride in the trailer.
What's wrong with the topper idea and a crate/?
