British Columbia Insurance and camper purchase questions

In the US(CO), my insurance company said that while the camper is on the truck it is covered by the truck insurance. Anytime the camper is off the truck it needs its own policy to be covered from damage, theft, ect. All they wanted was the VIN and value. The premium is not cheap so I will be checking other insurance companies.
