British Columbia Insurance and camper purchase questions

Im looking to buy a new to me slide in Travel Lite 800. I found it on Kijiji and have a concern. Does my truck insurance cover the camper as well or do i need to purchase special insurance. Also would there be any ownership papers? How would i know whether or not the unit was stolen?:h

  • you dont need icbc insurance for the camper like you would with a rv trailer or motorhome. you would want to insure your camper through an insurance broker. i pay $250 a year for replacement value on a 2009 Arctic Fox.
  • As far as insurance you need to ask your insurance company. Mine covers the camper, some do not or have limited coverage.
  • your tc is considered cargo in b.c.,no registration is required. If the camper obstructs your truck licsense plate, mount it on the camper. We did a lien search when we purchased our lance of craigslist, got a receipt from seller and took a pic of his I.D.We do purchase insurance that covers contents, replacement cost etc. at bcaa
