People ask me all the time why I use a WDH/Anti-sway with a 3500lb, 19' TT behind a RAM 1500.

Nope, not in my mind. In my mind, it is peace of mind.
Having said the above. Do not jump to conclusions. I haven't seen anything posted about him NOT having anti-sway. Sure, the ASSUMPTION may be that he did not...still, just an assumption.
OP....We wish your brother and his family a speedy recovery. I bet that was one h@!! of a ride. One I hope to never experience.
