I had a brake pad tear off on the front brake of my 3500 Ram. The service department quoted me $600+ dollars. (300 for the rotor and 300 for labor and the brake pads. Luckily for me I have done a lot of mechanic work over the years and thought maybe I could do it myself. Several days later I stopped into the parts department at the same dealership and talked to the parts guy about doing it myself but the rotor seemed really expensive. He told me the torque specs on the 4 wheel drive front axle cover and I got the rotor for $160. I did it myself for $200.
