Lots of people live in RV's year around and I am and was one of them.It is way cheaper than rent here in Idaho and sure the winters can be harsh but it is very doable.
Rent here is $200 a month plus electricity for an RV.There are a lot of places to park an RV and mobile home spaces are usually cheaper.RV park monthly is about $400 a month with electricity even in Boise where a ton of folks live year around in RV's.
Living in an RV year around is very doable.I've done it for years in Idaho.
I spent 3 1/2 years living in two of mine while working a job transfer, my sons were completing high school and I knew it was a temporary position so I took the RV and did it alone.
I was in northern KY, so the winters were cold, I survived.
The first one was in a 1989 Terry travel trailer, it did not have the heated basement, I made it through -17 by using the on board fresh water tank, I used lots of propane and supplemented with a using the electric hot water option and using two small ceramic 1500W heaters one set to high, one set to low. On freezing nights I kept the below sink cabinets open to protect plumbing. I would have to go to Flying-J about every week to top off a 30 pound 7 gallon gas bottle, I had two but kept the full one closed so I knew when one went empty and I would go get a refill so I never ran out.
After that first winter I found the Jayco in my profile for sale nearby and got a good deal on it, switched out the first of February and did notice a lot of improvement in comfort, heated basement meant warmer floors. I spent 2 more years including 2 more winters in it, more space meant more to heat, I did notice during winter I consumed about a gallon per day, and I did supplement with the same electric heaters, being careful to turn one off during super cold or at night to make sure the furnace would come on to put heat into the basement compartments.
My rent arrangement was at a private campground, 450.00 per month included electricity, water and wi-fi.
Your results may vary, I did it by myself, I can take a little misery, not for everyone. I do know many other couples that are full timing in parks in the south. I did see several others full timing at other locations in the northern states when I was there.
