My trailer fully loaded is 6000lbs (scale verified) and the payload on my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab with 5.3 litre engine and 3.72 gears is 1700lbs.
Maximum Combined Vehicle Weight Rating (I don't remember but I'm within the limits anyway)
Maximum towing weight rating 9600 lbs (so I'm okay with that)
Maximum payload 1700 lbs (I have approx 750 lbs tongue weight)
1700 - 750 = 950 lbs of available payload to handle the Weight distributing hitch, gasoline in the truck, driver, passenger, kids, dog, bicycles, and firewood. I am at the limit for my 1500 series truck for payload and your trailer is heavier... you can do the math :)
To help with payload, I may add helper springs but it won't legally change the payload rating, just help when running at full payload to keep the truck level.
