7k dry is pushing the limits of the most capable half tons. That's 8-9k loaded with 1000-1300 pounds of TW, while pulling two sheets of plywood through the air at 65mph. There are not half ton receivers with 1300 pounds of TW ratings.
If you pursue a half ton, the GM twins with NHT package (older 6.2L or 2014+ 5.3L) would be good. Better yet is the F-150 with HD payload or Max trailer towing package. Every other half ton will fall short on payload in a crew cab, maybe even extended cab. If you go to 2010+ 3/4 ton, any will tow great within all its ratings. And they come with the proper towing packages, trans cooling, LT tires, etc.
