First off, we've only had our TT for 4 weeks and were out for 2 weeks on our first trip. At most of the places we stayed cable TV was offered. However, we never got it to work successfully. We changed the TV setting to "cable" and did a channel scan. All but 1 or 2 channels were full of static or wavy lines or tiling. I would suspect the coax, but there was always a channel or 2 that were crystal clear. We found that in every case we did much better with the antennae.Are we missing something?

Possibly you have the antenna amp turned on. It's the little button on the wall plate where you connect the TV cable. It should be off for cable, on for over the air antenna.

Yes, the booster button must be off for cable, and on for antenna reception.But, if that is not your issue, and I say this because I had other issues too... get a good piece of TV cable, test it at home so you know it works, and run it through the window at the RV Park directly to your TV. If it works, then screw the connection onto the unit and connect inside with the booster off. If it doesn't work, you know it's somewhere in the wiring.What I found, after going through this exercise was: I went into the false panel to the connection that comes from the cable outside and is the cable to my wall connection inside the camper. When I unscrewed the cable, I noticed that the center pin in the connection was shorter than usual... about 1/8th of an inch shorter... so when I screwed the cable onto the connection, the center pin was not actually connecting to the terminal.I put my needle nose pliers onto the center wire and pulled it out that little extra bit. After I screwed it back together, it has been long enough now for several years.mike

Turned it off and bingo we had cable TV. Thank goods because it was cool and rainy and kids were getting restless, mind you I'd prefer them to be outside. Good luck

Thanks for the input. We're getting the TT out of storage in a couple of the days for the next trip. Will take a look then.

We had the same thing happen to us. We just got our TT and stopped only once on our way home at a CG and couldn't get cable to work. Kept running a scan but couldn't get any more channels. Then my husband looked near the outlet where the cable jack was and there was a button. He pushed/flipped it, ran the scan again and we had all the offered cable channels.

Cable TV issues - are we doing something wrong?

Something as simple as the antenna booster switch....then I would NOT want them working on ANY thing in my rig.

It's even listed in the instruction sheet:
OPERATION:
To receive cable signals from outdoor receptacle:
Press switch to OFF (CABLE) position. Light on wall plate will go off
showing that power is no longer connected to the antenna and that both TV sets are receiving signals from outdoor receptacle.

To receive signals from antenna:
Press switch to ON (ANT) position. Light on wall plate will come on showing that power is connected to the antenna and both TV sets are receiving signals from the antenna.

NOTE: Make sure the antenna is in the operating position (up) and pointed at the station desired.

We arrived at Monument Valley last night and cable works fine with the antenna amp turned off.

FYI -- I mentioned this at the dealer on Thursday...the service techs didn't know about the switch.

on my trailer i have two input jacks on the outside wall of the trailer one for cable and one for satilite dish does yours have that if so did you hook up to the right one hope you get it figured out

Based on your description, the antenna amp is the likely suspect. But, could also have been a bad CG connection/system where you stayed. It happens....

We picked up the TT from storage this afternoon. Found the button on the jack in the entertainment center. Thinking this would have been good info to have when we did the walk through... or in any of the manuals we received. We had the same problem with a rental we did before deciding on a TT. Nothing said to us then either...just told to switch to "cable" and run a scan.

I had the same issue in our TT when it was new. What I found was the cables from the outside hook up and the antenna were reversed at the amplifier box. I have the Winegard Sensor series antenna/amplifier and the antenna is actually powered from the amplifier box over the cable. To check get a short cable and a tester, turn the amplifier on and plug the short piece of cable into your outside hookup. If you have power (DC) to the outside cable hookup it is reversed, at least in my case. I found that power on or power off made no difference in receiving a cable signal, so my amplifier must block a cable signal on the Antenna port. Remove the Amplifier from the wall and reverse the inputs. Everything works now and I even get better over the air reception with the power actually getting to the amplified antenna.

I made the same mistake with our new Minnie...didn't have cable reception for three days, and then finally thought of the booster button. I was used to it being on the wall in our Sunline, but in the Minnie, it's inside the entertainment center cabinet and hard to see if you don't know its there. But, then again, once the cable problem was solved, you still have the problem that most of what's on is garbage, and most campground wi fi signals don't support streaming stuff from Amazon or Netflix!
